Meet the Teacher

About Me

Hi! My name is Ms. Echols and I'm a fourth grade teacher at Avondale Elementary School. I was born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama. I moved to Birmingham in 2005 to attend school at UAB. I graduated with my bachelor's degree in sociology and psychology and worked as a business loan processor with Regions Bank before realizing my true passion was teaching. I returned to UAB to get my master's degree in Education with a dual certification in early childhood and elementary education. This 2018 - 2019 school year will begin my 4th year of teaching and my love for it is just as strong as it was during my first year! I have been at Avondale for all four years, previously teaching 2nd grade before moving to 4th. 

I love animals and have a 12 year old Shih Tzu named Tucker. I am the youngest of a blended family. My favorite pastimes are reading and hiking. My favorite colors are teal and purple and I run off Red Bull!
